Irish Radio Remains a Daily Habit for Over 3.4 Million Adults – JNLR Report

Last week, the latest JNLR/Ipsos report for the period of July 2024 to June 2025 was released, confirming that radio continues to be a powerful and trusted medium in Ireland, with 3.49 million adults (15+) tuning in every weekday.

That’s a remarkable 79.3% of the population engaging with radio daily, rising to 90.2% over the course of a week.

Local and regional stations remain central to Irish life, attracting 52.5% of daily listeners, while national stations draw 42.8% of the audience. Among younger audiences (15–34), 67.5% listen daily, with local/regional radio commanding a strong 65.3% share of listening minutes.

Listeners spend an average of 3 hours and 45 minutes with the radio each weekday, primarily during the 7 am–7 pm window. Local/Regional radio leads nationally with a 54.5% share of all minutes listened, dominating in regions like Cork (62.9%) and the South-West (62.8%). National radio holds sway in Dublin and commuter areas, with over 54% share.

The survey, conducted by Ipsos B&A on behalf of JNLR and commissioned by national, regional, and local stations along with AAI, IAPI, and Coimisiún na Meán, interviewed approximately 16,700 people.
