Almost 4 million tune into radio every week

The latest JNLR/Ipsos report on radio listening in Ireland was published last week, covering the period from April 2024 to March 2025. The results show that 3.94 million listeners tune into the radio every week, the highest weekly listenership ever recorded.

This grew by 128,000 listeners compared to the same 12-month year on year.

Other highlights from the survey include:

  • 3.5 million people listen to the radio each weekday — an increase of 103,000 listeners compared to the same period last year.
  • 90% of all adults and 85% of 15-34-year-olds listen to the radio every week.
  • Over 2.2 million adults listen to their local or regional station every weekday.
  • For the 15 to 34 age cohort, 20% of all their radio listening is now through a connected device with a smart speaker.
  • Over 70% of people listening to the radio in Ireland tune into independent local, regional or national stations.
