Joint Oireachtas Committee Invitation
The PRII was recently invited to appear before the Joint Committee on Arts, Media, Communications, Culture and Sport to discuss matters relating to Coimisiún Na Meán's Code of Fairness, Impartiality and Objectivity. While we welcomed the invitation and the opportunity, we declined on this occasion as the Code does not apply to the PR and communications sector, and the PRII did not wish to comment in an Oireachtas setting on an individual case involving a non-member. A formal letter outlining our position was submitted to the Committee. We want to reassure members that we continue to champion the highest standards of ethical, transparent and accountable practice, and we remain fully committed to supporting efforts that strengthen public trust in professional communication.
