Dublin's Energy Agency Codema is currently seeking a proactive and dynamic Communications and Events Officer to join its Communications and Marketing team.
This exciting role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with a professional background in communications, marketing, public relations and/or event management to join one of Ireland’s leading not-for-profit organisations working in the energy and climate action sector.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering Codema’s communications, digital marketing and events programme, working across a diverse range of national and EU-funded projects and organisational activities. This will include supporting the delivery of Codema’s flagship Decarbonising Dublin Summit, coordinating workshops, webinars, conferences and training events, developing engaging content for our digital channels and supporting project communications.

What you will do
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering Codema’s events, communications and digital marketing activities, helping to engage a wide range of stakeholders and audiences. The role will involve coordinating high-profile events and project communications, creating engaging content across digital channels and supporting the delivery of wider organisational communications and promotional activities.
Key tasks and responsibilities
Event coordination
The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning, organisation and delivery of Codema events, including the Decarbonising Dublin Summit, Codema’s flagship event. Responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating the Decarbonising Dublin Summit from planning through to delivery
- Managing event registration and attendee databases.
- Identifying and securing speakers and session moderators and providing guidance and support in advance of the event.
- Identifying, securing and liaising with event sponsors.
- Coordinating event logistics, including venue, catering, audiovisual requirements and other suppliers.
- Developing event materials, such as programmes, sponsorship packs, presentations and social media graphics.
- Coordinating stakeholder outreach to promote the event to priority audiences.
- Promoting the event across digital channels, including email, e-newsletters, websites and social media.
- Leading the organisation and delivery of other Codema events, including workshops, webinars, information sessions and training events for a range of audiences, such as local authorities, public sector and government organisations, communities, industry stakeholders, EU partners and the wider public.
- Coordinating events associated with Codema’s EU-funded project work (see further details below), including webinars, workshops, conferences and training sessions.
- Organising Codema events as part of wider annual programmes, such as Dublin Climate Action Week, and coordinating with external event partners and stakeholders.
Project communications and dissemination
The successful candidate will support the communication and dissemination activities of Codema’s national and EU-funded projects. Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting communications and dissemination for projects including, but not limited to, E2CUTIES, MultiRoofs, REEF, CLR3 / Better Retrofits Together and the new ELENA district heating project, which supports the development of the Blanchardstown District Heating System.
- Developing and coordinating communications activities and materials to promote project outputs, activities and key messages to relevant audiences.
- Organising project-related events, where required, including workshops, webinars, conferences and training sessions.
- Working closely with project managers and project leads to ensure all communication and dissemination activities are delivered on time and to a consistently-high standard.
Digital marketing
○The successful candidate will provide digital marketing support across Codema’s digital channels, including the Codema website, Think Energy website, Dublin Climate Action Week website, project websites, social media platforms and e-newsletters. Responsibilities will include:
- Creating engaging, accessible and creative digital content tailored to different audiences and platforms.
- Planning and publishing regular content across Codema’s social media channels and supporting the growth of Codema’s online audiences.
- Writing and publishing news articles and maintaining up-to-date website content.
- Supporting the planning, content development and distribution of regular e-newsletters.
- Promoting Codema’s events, projects, publications and activities across relevant digital channels.
General communications
The successful candidate will also support a range of wider communications activities across the organisation, including:
- Creating content and supporting the design and production of promotional and informational materials, including brochures, reports, leaflets and infographics.
- Supporting the preparation of award applications, where required.
- Assisting with the drafting of press releases and supporting media engagement and coordination, where required.
- Supporting the development and production of organisational publications, including Codema’s Annual Report.

Minimum requirements
- A relevant third-level qualification in communications, marketing, event management, public relations, journalism or a related discipline.
- At least three years’ relevant professional experience in communications, marketing, events or a similar role.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and delivering events, workshops, webinars or conferences.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and engaging content for different audiences.
- Experience managing digital communications channels, including websites, social media and e-newsletters.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience engaging and liaising with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite.
- A strong interest in climate action, sustainability and the energy transition.
- Fluency in English is essential.
- Ability to work with a team and on own initiative.
- Eligible to work in Ireland.
Additional skills that would be a distinct advantage
- Familiarity with EU-funded or publicly funded projects, including communications and dissemination requirements.
- Graphic design skills / experience using tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience producing or editing video, photography or other multimedia content.
- A good working knowledge of AI tools and their potential to improve efficiency, productivity and workflows within the team.
- Knowledge of Irish climate and energy policy or a strong interest in developing expertise in this area.
Location
The Codema office is located in Dublin city and is accessible by a range of sustainable transport modes. Secure bicycle parking is also available. The role will be a mixture of remote and in-office working, with in-person work required for all events. Please note that due to the nature of this role, a limited amount of evening/weekend work may be required, along with occasional travel abroad.

€45,000 - €50,000
