An Post Corporate Communications is a key part of the Company Secretary directorate, developing and implementing external communications and public affairs strategies to support our Green Light 2028 strategy, protect our reputation and demonstrate organisational performance and effectiveness. It is a key function, supporting An Post’s Mails & Parcels and Retail businesses as well as other corporate functions including Finance, Digital, Technology and HR.

We are looking for a proactive, motivated and digitally skilled individual with excellent written and verbal skills to join our Corporate Communications team.

Reporting to the Communications & Public Affairs manager and working with a high-performing team, this person will play a key role in developing and executing communications strategy and PR activity and handling proactive and reactive media relations, stakeholder and reputation management.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for general communications strategy planning and the end-to-end execution of campaigns, working closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and impact.
  • Management of day-to-day collaboration with support agencies and suppliers, including overseeing budgets across multiple projects to ensure efficient and effective delivery.
  • Handling media enquiries in a timely and professional manner, including external of normal working hours when necessary. This will involve working closely with colleagues at all levels across the business. You may also act as a company spokesperson when required and support senior colleagues in preparing for media interviews, briefings, and presentations.
  • Drafting material such as media briefings, communications plans, press releases and overseeing production of the Annual Report, Gender Pay Report etc
  • Collaborating with the Marketing, Brand and Digital teams, and support agencies in planning and crafting digital content for various channels
  • Event management and creative approaches to product/service launches, etc.
  • Overseeing administrative support staff and suppliers, and managing digital stakeholder contact lists and logs in compliance with GDPR.
  • Upholding and promoting An Post’s values and behaviours, addressing behaviour that aligns with or conflicts with those values.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

A Degree or Masters in Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field is required for this role. Candidates should have a minimum of five years’ proven experience and development in public-facing communications, PR, or media positions.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with exceptional attention to detail. The role also demands strong digital capabilities and a proven track record of delivering high-quality work within tight deadlines.

A thorough understanding of the Irish media landscape, as well as the political and policymaking environment, is necessary. Fluency in the Irish language, both written and spoken, would be considered an advantage.

The successful candidate will be an independent thinker who is self-directed and takes personal responsibility for achieving objectives and overcoming challenges. Advanced writing skills to suit various channels and audiences to tight deadlines essential.

Finally, the role requires strong business acumen and a solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to adapt quickly and deliver effective outcomes.
