Media Consultant
Future Advocacy
We are looking for a Media Consultant in Ireland to play a key role in one of Future Advocacy’s projects, being carried out in Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, the UK and at the EU level. The project aims to support the dissemination of reliable facts and expertise about development aid. We’re connecting compelling messages and stories with unexpected and influential messengers to raise awareness and understanding about the importance of reducing poverty and improving health in the world.
PROJECT SCOPE
We are looking for a Media Consultant who can carry out this work in Ireland. The project would involve leading the media work in Ireland to secure high-level media coverage of our key messages and unexpected messengers in the national press. The Media Consultant will help identify and secure new and unexpected messengers. They will work in close coordination with Future Advocacy’s dynamic and supportive team in Brussels and will also support the coordination of the work with partners in Ireland.
Future Advocacy is working with More in Common, who will deliver message testing and development in Ireland.
This initial contract extends to the end of 2026.
KEY DELIVERABLES
The selected Consultant would:
- Lead on development and delivery of a media strategy
- Secure stories in national press on polling insights & new research, prioritising outlets read by decision makers
- Identify and secure possible unexpected spokespersons/champions, providing them with messaging and content
- Identify opportunities for unexpected spokespersons/champions
PROPOSAL REQUIREMENTS
Proposals should be no more than 4 pages and should include:
- Expertise: background, relevant experience and case studies
- Approach: how would you support delivery of the project? What is your assessment of the political climate?
- Timeline: outline how you would deliver within our timeline and at key moments throughout 2026
- Delivery: how would you deliver to ensure we proactively push our messages in the media while building on upcoming hooks and trends?
- Budget: An estimation of the number of working days within our €30,000 budget
We are seeking an individual with a broad range of capabilities including:
- Strategic communications
- Press and PR (proactive media outreach and rebuttal) with a strong network of national media contacts in Ireland
- Excellent writing skills in English and understanding of what makes a great story, perhaps gained through experience as a journalist
- Experience working on international development and aid issues in Ireland
- Political intelligence and networks in Ireland
- Desirable: Wider network of potential champions
EVALUATION CRITERIA
Proposals will be evaluated based on expertise; creativity; cost; and past success in similar projects.
