We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Manager to lead stakeholder engagement, contractor coordination and community relations for the BusConnects Dublin Infrastructure Project, which is entering its construction phase across Dublin.
About the Role
This is a senior, visible role in the centre of a nationally significant project, requiring exceptional judgement, leadership and the ability to manage complex relationships and processes and communicate complex, technical information clearly to diverse audiences. The emphasis is on stakeholder engagement and operational delivery, rather than traditional PR or media work. You will work closely with contractors, engineers, client partners and internal teams to ensure smooth processes and strong community engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or government-led projects is highly desirable, as is a strong understanding of the Irish media, political and public affairs environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead stakeholder engagement strategies for the construction and delivery of a major infrastructure project, ensuring clear, consistent communication with local communities and partners.
- Manage relationships with contractors and client partners, ensuring internal processes are efficient and aligned with project timelines.
- Act as a trusted adviser to senior leaders and project teams on engagement and communications matters.
- Ability to work with a range of contractors and managing the internal processes needed to get work approved and delivered
- Experienced in working directly with local communities, taking the lead on engagement and maintaining open, clear communication throughout the project.
- Act as the communications lead and subject-matter expert, providing strategic advice to senior leaders and project teams.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary project team, collaborating closely with contractors, engineers, construction supervisors and technical specialists.
- Lead and manage a team of Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Managers, Executives and Community Liaison Officers, ensuring timely, accurate and consistent information is shared with the public.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government bodies, local authorities, community representatives and partner organisations.
- Respond effectively to stakeholder concerns and issues, maintaining transparency and trust in a complex, high-profile environment.
- Serve as a spokesperson and point of contact for communications on the project, maintaining a strong understanding of day-to-day project activity and delivery milestones.
- Respond strategically and effectively to media enquiries, public issues and stakeholder concerns, often in a complex and high-profile environment.
- Ensure best-practice, consistent messaging across all internal and external communication channels, aligned with project priorities.
- Plan and deliver community engagement initiatives, consultations and stakeholder forums.
- Oversee and contribute to the drafting of high-quality public communications materials, including press releases, brochures, information packs and consultation documents.
- Requirement to spend a day a week at a designated construction site in Dublin city.
Key Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in a senior stakeholder engagement, public affairs communications, or related role.
- Experience working on infrastructure, transport, utilities or government projects is highly advantageous.
- A relevant third-level qualification (e.g. Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Project Management, or similar).
- Proven experience in leadership or people management roles.
- Strong familiarity with Irish stakeholder and community engagement practices.
