Communications & Programme Officer – Irish Hotels Federation

The Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) is seeking to recruit a Communications & Programme Officer with responsibility for driving the development and implementation of core components of our member services programme and wider communications strategy. The successful candidate will be a motivated communications professional with strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills and a proven ability to deliver organisational objectives. Reporting to the Director of Member Services and the Communications & Programme Manager, this position offers an exciting opportunity for career development in a people-focused industry.

The IHF is the national business representative organisation of the hotels sector in Ireland. Our primary function is to support and promote the interests of members and the wider sector by providing a strong voice on issues that impact our industry. Representing over 900 hotels and guesthouses nationwide, we are a key stakeholder in the tourism industry and work closely with industry partners, Government and State agencies across a wide range of policy areas to ensure the right conditions are in place to support Irish tourism and hospitality.

JOB ROLE:

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the development of member communications
  • Supporting project, campaign and event management
  • Driving engagement with the IHF’s online platforms, including websites, social media channels and newsletters
  • Working with members and suppliers to amplify industry news stories and content
  • Supporting public relations and public affairs campaigns
  • Assisting with research, publications and submissions
  • Supporting IHF committees and regional branches
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Over 3 years’ relevant experience in a communications role – agency or in-house
  • A proven track record in delivering impactful communications campaigns
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working across digital channels – with specific experience in social media management, SEO, digital advertising, copywriting, Google Analytics and graphic design preferable
  • Event management experience – ideally with experience working on conferences and large events  
  • An interest in the Irish political environment
  • An ability to work successfully as part of a team
  • Highly developed planning, organisational and multi-tasking skills
  • A degree in communications, marketing or public relations
