The Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII) in collaboration with Springboard Communications undertook this piece of research by polling those working in internal communications in Ireland to capture a snapshot of the sector in 2022.

From this we found that Internal Comms is strengthening it's position within organisations, as 65% say their influence as a trusted advisor to the C-suite has increased over the last 2 years.

With 51% saying that employee engagement is the primary way to convince the C-Suite of the value of internal communications.

The objective of the research was to gain an understanding of the internal comms landscape in Ireland and the challenges faced by those working in this specific area of communications practice.

From the survey we were able to establish that 86% of respondents work in teams of 5 people or less, with the majority working solo.

The finding that 54% have been working in the field for less than five years will help inform the supports and services we can offer internal communicators in 2023, from professional development and training, to resources and conferences and events.

We will be elaborating on the results in the New Year and looking to discuss further with members.
