The PR and Communications Manager will work to further enhance the Institute’s communications programme to members and will manage all public relations at Chartered Accountants Ireland. The role will be responsible for the successful delivery of the Institute’s PR and communications strategy. The PR and Communications Manager to develop and carry out a diverse set of programs that encompasses Corporate and Member PR, And External Communications.

Management of External Communications

  • Amplify, enhance and broaden our voice (from a media and public relations perspective) in matters of interest to our members. This will require a close working relationship with the Advocacy and Voice team as well as related boards and committees
  • Develop and implement external communications and PR strategies and programmers to support key Marketing and Strategic Institute campaigns through provide external public relations guidance and support to all areas of the business as required including responsibility for the development of speeches, digital content, social media strategies, presentations for Institute conferences and events
  • Advise and support the President, CEO Office and Leadership Team with regard to external communications opportunities whilst assisting in the development and management of the annual presidential programme based on the focus of the annual presidential objectives
  • Manage reputational risk and issues/crisis communications, in conjunction with Leadership Team and key stakeholders
  • Execute external communications plan working within budget and timelines and tracking results to ensure KPIs are consistently met
  • Work across all stakeholders and departments to ensure integrated communications across the Institute
  • To work with the Executive Assistant to the CEO and the President in developing and managing the annual presidential programme, focus on annual presidential objectives, with an emphasis on key engagements. Work with the CEO and Director Members respectively, to provide support on high profile presentations, events and communications.   • Develop, implement and manage an annual plan with a supporting budget and income plan (where applicable).
  • Implement Chartered Accountants Ireland policies, standards and initiatives locally including but not exclusively in relation to Performance management, relevant codes of conduct, Data protection, IT policies, etc.
  • Manage directly or indirectly a team and/or project.
  • Ensure the health, safety and welfare of their team and ensure that team members adhere to relevant policies in this area.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing or related field or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in PR and communications. Deep knowledge of the Irish media landscape and strong understanding of, and experience in, both broadcast and print media
  • Experienced with social media management
  • Strong project management skills and experience, including managing internal stakeholders and multiple projects
  • Proven experience of working under pressure to meet deadlines
  • A good understanding of structure and workings of professional membership bodies preferably in the accountancy world
  • Experience of engaging effectively with senior political and government stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • People management experience
  • Ability to understand and manage budgets
  • Competent with Microsoft Packages (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.) plus experience of using databases
