JOB ROLE:

Role Purpose:

  • Promoting, protecting and defending Vodafone’s reputation to key audiences
  • Strategic communications : planning impactful and effective communications campaigns to support Vodafone’s business priorities
  • Media relations and management across national and regional, broadcast, print and digital media, across business, lifestyle, current affairs, sports, general news
  • Reactive communications: support crisis management, handling media queries

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibility:

  • You will plan, create and implement compelling communications campaigns across Vodafone corporate, products, CSR and sponsorships
  • You will support the development of the external communications strategy, reputation strategy and annual plans.
  • You will be accountable for all media relations and management on behalf of Vodafone Ireland.
  • You will be responsible for setting up and maintaining active flow of content from newsroom.
  • You will liaise with stakeholders and will build productive working relationships throughout the business including with internal and brand communications teams, with media, with PR agencies and with Vodafone Group.
  • You will be able to act as representative for Vodafone externally, including as spokesperson and in broadcast interviews where required.
  • You will produce high calibre, effective written material including press releases, social media posts including LinkedIn, speeches, interview briefs, presentations, reports that marshall key messages and proof points consistent with Vodafone corporate and brand tone and positioning
  • You will manage the production of content including video and digital for multiple channels.
  • You will be advisor to senior management and leadership teams on communications strategies and media appearance work.
  • You will work closely with teams across the business on Vodafone messaging, opportunities, hero stories and campaigns.
  • You will support the External Affairs Director in crisis management communications.
  • You will be measured on impact of communications initiatives on Vodafone’s reputation in Ireland, as well as strength and depth of relationships

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • 7+ years of media relations experience whether in agency or in house, sectoral experience would be a plus, or experience with household-name, high profile entities
  • Impact-oriented, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Effective writing skills including on technical subjects is important in this role.
  • Able to form strong relationships inside and outside the business
  • A true customer advocate, with a keen understanding of and empathetic to the customer perspective
  • A great network across broadcast, digital and print media, knowledge of social media trends
  • A keen interest in news and current affairs
  • Sound judgement and ability to identify and mitigate risks
  • Creative ability to spot and create an angle
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to produce compelling content for all channels
  • Ability to work efficiently and to deliver excellent quality under time pressure
  • Good organisational, project management and problem-solving skills combined with flexibility and resilience necessary in this role.
  • Experience in people management, working closely with the team to manage workload and develop talent within the team.
  • Budget management experience, across projects and total year overview.
  • Ability to produce engaging reports to tell compelling story and track deliverables.
