Community Creations is the not-for-profit company behind spunout, Ireland’s award-winning youth information website, and 50808, a new, free 24/7 text service, providing everything from a calming chat to immediate support. 

spunout is Ireland’s youth information website, by young people for young people. spunout’s vision is to help create an Ireland where young people aged between 16 and 25 are empowered with the information they need to live active, happy, and healthy lives. spunout was visited over 2.3 million times in 2020, providing young people with information that is factual, easy to read, and non-judgemental.

50808 is a first of its kind for Ireland: a free 24/7 text service, providing everything from a calming chat to immediate support for people going through a mental health or emotional crisis - big or small. From breakups or bullying to anxiety, depression, and suicidal feelings, our Crisis Volunteers are available 24/7 for anonymous text conversations. Our aim is to provide immediate support in the short term and connect people to resources that will help them into the future.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute an internal communications strategy in conjunction with the senior leadership team which ensures the communication needs of all internal stakeholders are understood and met
  • Engage all internal stakeholders with processes to develop new strategies, work plans and project plans to ensure the input of staff and volunteers is reflected in all aspects of the organisation's work and impact
  • Develop and execute communication plans to ensure organisational strategy, priorities, initiatives, projects and announcements are successfully communicated to, and understood by, all staff, volunteers and stakeholders
  • Lead strategic cross-functional communication and engagement initiatives from concept to delivery
  • Plan, edit and create a variety of internal and executive communications content including presentations, announcements, and newsletters to be delivered across a variety of internal channels
  • Working closely with teams from across the organisation to gather and effectively share stories that show and celebrate the difference Community Creations makes and how we make that impact for our beneficiaries
  • Ensure all internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organisation and align with the organisation’s vision, mission and values
  • Develop and maintain the organisation’s internal communications channels
  • Support leadership in the planning and execution of company-wide meetings to inform and engage staff members and volunteers across the organisation
  • Ensuring opportunities for two-way, meaningful communications and mechanisms between internal stakeholders and senior leaders
  • Developing and co-ordinating regular communications from Community Creations’ CEO to staff and other internal stakeholders
  • Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly
  • Handle the internal communication response to crisis situations that affect organisational perception and reputation
  • Advise senior leaders of developments throughout the organisation, either face to face or through regular written communication
  • Foresee how a decision will impact people, and proactively design communications and identify solutions to prevent or limit any adverse impact on people or teams
  • Any other duties or responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Director of People & Operations and CEO

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in an internal communications (or related) role
  • Experience of developing internal communications strategies and processes, and overseeing their delivery
  • Experience in various types of creative content development designed to engage and inform internal audiences
  • Experience with virtual and in-person event management and logistics

Skills:

  • A superb communicator and presenter, with a gift for storytelling and an ability to write engaging messages, adapting your tone of voice to topics, topic owners, and target audiences
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to articulate details in clear, concise communications
  • Superior project management, organisation and time management skills
  • Track record of communicating proactively with stakeholders
  • Ability to listen empathetically and collaborate effectively across teams and build consensus among multiple internal stakeholders
  • Ability to balance the need for quality with project deadlines
  • Ability to problem solve and exercise exceptional judgment 
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment

Qualifications:

  • Degree (or similar) in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related discipline, with experience in storytelling and proactive communications
