Job Purpose

To contribute to strategic communications leadership within Fáilte Ireland, provide senior level communications advice and inputs to the work of other Divisions and to manage the day to day running of Communications team.

*The successful candidate will commence on the 1st point of the salary scale in line with current Government policy, the salary for this role is €54,776

JOB ROLE:

To contribute to strategic communications leadership within Fáilte Ireland, provide senior level communications advice and inputs to the work of other Divisions and to manage the day to day running of Communications team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and manage public relations activities which communicate Fáilte Ireland’s priorities and achievements to stakeholders and public;
  • Identify, lead and implement proactive media campaigns to promote the work of Fáilte Ireland to key audiences;
  • Manage reactive media and ensure responses which appropriately reflect the important work of Fáilte Ireland;
  • Provide support and briefing to Fáilte Ireland spokespeople in preparation for media engagements and co-ordinate training if required;
  • Manage work to position Fáilte Ireland as a tourism industry leader in terms of setting out the future direction of the sector as well as a key ally who adds value through its insights, knowledge and practical supports;
  • Coordinate advocacy to key stakeholders on the importance of tourism and mobilise them behind the Fáilte Ireland’s strategic objectives and priorities;
  • Manage and lead on work plans which lead to authentic staff engagement with the objectives and strategic direction of Fáilte Ireland and drive a culture of trust, involvement and cross team collaboration throughout the organisation;
  • Manage the measurement of communications activity to ensure it is in line with the organisation’s objectives;
  • Close liaison and interaction with all internal teams to determine publicity requirements and identify opportunities;
  • Co-ordination of communications events – including logistics and organisation;
  • Co-ordination of photo opportunities – issue photo-call notices, engaging in photographic services along with liaising with photographers, dissemination of images and captions;
  • Promote the corporate brand by managing the organisation’s presence at key events throughout the year.

Resource Management

  • Set clear goals for the team that are aligned to the operational plan and corporate objectives
  • Effective management of team resource and allocation of appropriate resource to projects and tasks
  • Manage all staff reporting to the position, support and motivate them to maximise their development potential
  • Manage cross functional resource to deliver agreed projects and KPI’s

EXPERIENCE:

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

The successful candidate must possess and through their CV/Application show evidence of:

  • At least seven years’ experience in corporate communications
  • A team player with previous experience in communications and relationship management
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to plan and prioritise work to meet deadlines
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to follow through to complete tasks
  • Demonstrable ability to influence at a high level
  • People and project management experience
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of modern media and communications environment
  • Public Relations experience

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with social media, digital marketing tools and platforms
  • In-house communications experience
  • Experience building relationships and working closely with senior stakeholders

Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications

Candidates are required to hold a third level qualification in Communications, Public Relations or a closely related field.
