Trinity Development & Alumni, the primary fundraising agency of Trinity College Dublin, is looking to recruit a Communications Manager. This is a unique opportunity to play a leading role as Trinity College Dublin embarks on its first philanthropic campaign, Inspiring Generations, in over 400 years. You will be part of a dynamic team as the University undertakes the most ambitious campaign ever undertaken on the island of Ireland and the fourth largest in Europe.

As a member of the Communications and Events team, you will have a role in delivering key communications supporting the campaign’s ambition to raise €400m while also inspiring 150,000 hours of volunteering from the global Trinity community of alumni, friends and supporters, staff and students.

Role summary

As the Communications Manager you will have a key role in driving Trinity’s engagement and communications with its alumni, donors and supporters worldwide through the design and management of a range of publications and online platforms as part of an overall communications and marketing strategy to advance the University’s global impact.

This is a busy and fast paced role which requires a Communications Manager who is experienced and comfortable across both print and digital. The candidate must be agile, enjoys a challenge and can communicate and amplify the impact of Ireland’s leading university across a range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities specified below are not intended to be exclusive or restrictive and flexibility in the allocation of specific duties will be required. As the Communications Manager, you will:

  1. Play a leading role in the project management, content generation and design management of Trinity’s annual alumni magazine and other flagship publications (Impact Report) and other marketing collateral as required.
  2. Play a key role within the communications team in driving the internal and external communications strategy for optimising the Inspiring Generations philanthropic campaign across all key audiences.
  3. Manage strong relationships with external agencies and suppliers to ensure key projects are delivered on budget and on time.
  4. Lead the digital team in managing and optimising online publications (ezines, newsletters) and online social media campaigns.
  5. Be responsible for the management and updating of  and and the creation of online content on an ongoing basis for web and social media channels (video, photography, infographics, podcasts…)
  6. Manage and rollout a digital strategy across all social media channels.
  7. Provide reports on digital metrics including Google Analytics, search engine optimisation (SEO) and pay per click (PPC) campaigns across platforms.
  8. Collaborate with colleagues across the University to effectively coordinate digital marketing programmes and campaigns.
  9. Work closely with TDA teams in delivering the respective goals of the University’s Inspiring Generations campaign.
  10. Undertake other duties as may be assigned from time to time by line manager.

Key Relationships

There will be a requirement to engage proactively with a wide range of stakeholders including College personnel and external stakeholders such as donors, alumni, volunteers and friends of the University.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a fast-paced communications management role working across print and digital.
  • Third level qualification in Marketing or Communications or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience of working on large scale communications campaigns and working with multiple external suppliers and agencies.
  • Strong digital experience including working on websites with CMS platforms, adwords, analytics, SEO and across all major social media platforms.  Experience of Dreamweaver is desirable but not required
  • Experience with Adwords Qualification, Goole Analytics, and of paid social media campaigns.
  • Experience in email marketing campaigns using Mailchimp or similar providers
  • Excellent computer skills - MS Office packages (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), photoshop, In Design.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with demonstrable ability to build good relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Understanding of, and passion for, the role and value of a university in society in particular Trinity’s impact.
