Our client requires an experienced communications executive for a fixed term contract to support the implementation of their ongoing strategic and operational communications requirements.  The role arises due to the re-assignment of a current executive from their Communications Department to another function within the organisation.

The vacancy is immediate and would potentially suit a recently qualified graduate (with experience already gained and a relevant third level qualification in communications or related disciplines); an already experienced professional (perhaps seeking a return to work) or an experienced freelance PR operator.

The initial term of engagement would be up to 6 months on contract, working in the client’s offices, including an initial probationary period, with the potential for further extensions of that period in 3-6 month blocks subject to a review of arrangements in line with operational requirements.

Reporting to the Communications Manager, you will work in that Department providing back-up and support to line management and to the Director.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Management of key events for the organisation;
  • General organisational requirements including communications, dealing with queries, documentation, input of information
  • Oversight and updating of website content, including general information, news items, publications
  • Managing and monitoring media relations activities including press releases, social media items and eZines
  • Working as part of a team in delivering services and supporting team-managers and colleagues, including staff management
  • Liaising with stakeholders including responding to queries and providing information in a timely manner
  • Managing key supply partners including PR, design, web, Internet
  • Preparing and producing data/information, including reports and minutes of meetings
  • Scheduling meetings, diary management and record keeping
  • Performing other relevant work in line with the communications function and overall organisational needs.

This is an excellent opportunity in a highly interesting sector serving a wide range of stakeholders and communities.  Training will be provided on the relevant IT, web and operating systems required to fulfil the role.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated person with relevant experience and excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
