The Construction Industry Federation is the national organisation for construction employers.  CIF has 1,500 members comprising 30 specialist Associations representing various sectors within the industry, operates 13 branches throughout Ireland and provides a range of specialist member services.

The Communications department is responsible for devising and delivering external and internal communications strategies on behalf of the CIF. It also responsible for the development and management of media relations, media engagement strategies, public affairs, government affairs and stakeholder engagement.

JOB ROLE & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drafting press releases and statements, editing articles and other commentary for distribution to the media and other audiences.
  • Develop, manage execute communications campaigns (social, digital and traditional) and initiatives including researching; developing and pitching ideas to media to secure print; online and broadcast coverage for the firm.
  • Harvest information from our constituent sectors and translate into content across all media
  • Monitoring daily news agenda to identify opportunities to provide proactive commentary on issues/topics of relevance to the business.
  • Assisting in developing briefing packs and messaging for media interviews and public engagements.
  • Measuring the impact of communications campaigns and activity — internally and externally.
  • Managing relationships with suppliers including photographers and media monitoring agencies.
  • Fielding media queries as required, sometimes outside of normal business hours.
  • Editorial guidance/proofing of Construction Magazine.
  • Overseeing returns of CIF lobbying activity from all departments.
  • Event management.
  • Overseeing the design, print and postage of numerous CIF reports throughout the year: e.g. the CIF Budget Submission/Annual Report.
  • Diary management/Some General Administrative work.

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Experience / Skills / Qualifications:

  • 3 – 5 years’ PR experience managing the planning, development and implementation of communication campaigns (in-house, agency or ideally in a membership organisation)
  • Knowledge of Digital (search, display, web, social)
  • Relevant Communications, Marketing or business discipline qualification
  • Excellent communication skills to influence agendas at all levels of the organisation.
  • Energised, driven, resilient; a strong team player with the ability to multitask and capable of working on own initiative.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Diligent with proven experience working to tight deadlines and prioritising workload
  • Must be flexible in relation to working hours from time to time due to the nature of the media/communications role.
