Public Relations Industry Honours Mary Davis

Life Fellowships Awarded to Sheila Gahan and John Saunders

The Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII) today (Thur 06 December) honoured the Special Olympics Ireland CEO, Mary Davis, by presenting her with the President's Medal at a function in Dublin.

PRII President, Mr Justin Green, said the Institute was making the presentation in recognition of Mary Davis's "inspirational and selfless work on behalf of Special Olympics Ireland, particularly her remarkable achievement in bringing the 2003 Special Olympics World Games to Ireland, and leading Team Ireland at this year's World Games in China. Bringing the World Games to Ireland served not onlyto raise awareness of people with special needs but also to inspire a wonderful community spirit and voluntary effort throughout the country. She is a very worthy recipient of the President's medal."

Two long-standing members of the Institute were also honoured at the function for their contribution to the Public Relations industry when Life Fellowships were awarded to Ms Sheila Gahan, Director, WHPR, and Mr John Saunders, Regional Director - Continental Europe & Ireland, Fleishman-Hillard.

Guest of honour at the PRII Christmas Lunch in Fire Restaurant was the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Mr Eamon Ryan TD.
