The National Council is the Institute’s governing body. It fulfils a range of important roles including overseeing the PRII’s strategic development and growth and ensuring the highest standards of governance are maintained. Five vacancies have arisen on the PRII National Council which will be filled at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held on 30 January 2018 at 6:00pm in the Royal Irish Academy, Dawson Street, Dublin 2.
The vacancies include one general member from any sector of the profession and four others, one to represent each of the following areas of the profession:
These vacancies arise as Eugene Grey FPRII has stepped down from National Council and the one-year term of four co-opted members (Cliodhna O’Neill MPRII, Eoin Kennedy MPRII, Martyn Rosney MPRII and Florence White MPRII) will have come to an end. Speaking about the Council, PRII President Cian Connaughton said:
“On behalf of PRII Members and the National Council I would like to thank Cliodhna, Eoin, Eugene, Florence and Martyn for their commitment to the Institute and their contribution to Council this year. I would also like to wish my predecessor Jacqueline Hall FPRII well as her ex-officio year comes to an end at the AGM also. I would like to thank Jacqueline for her leadership and dedicated service on Nation Council as a member, Vice President and President over the past number of years.”
He added a call for new Council members:
“If you are a Full Member (MPRII), interested in helping to shape the future of the profession, in the interests of the profession, and in the interests of your own professional development and profile, we welcome your candidacy and will help in any way possible”.
Nomination Forms for National Council positions will be sent with the notice for the AGM not less than 21 days before the AGM to all Full, Fellow, Life Fellows, Retired members, and Honorary members that were full members, who are eligible to vote.
Nominations must be received 12 days before the AGM i.e. not later than 5pm on Thursday 18th January 2018.
A member entitled to vote at the AGM, but who cannot attend, is entitled to appoint a proxy to vote in her/his place at the meeting. A proxy must be a Full member of the Institute and should be nominated via the form provided in the same pack as the notice for the AGM. Photocopied and scanned proxy forms cannot be accepted. Proxy forms must be received not less than 48 hours before the AGM.
So, plenty of time to plan, canvass and get your vote out on the night! Members can find out more about the Institute’s National Council here.
