The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management (GA) held its 15th Annual General Meeting in New York City yesterday.
A new board of directors, including PRII Vice President Justin Green, FPRII (Life) was elected at the AGM and will take office on July 1st 2017. The incoming board includes leading practitioners, academics and industry association leaders, with representation from every continent.
This is the first time a PRII member will have served on the GA board.
Jose Manuel Velasco of Dircom in Spain was elected Chair of the board and he
welcomed the new board members Justin Green (PRII, Ireland), Alastair McCapra (CIPR, UK), Alex Malouf (MEPRA, UAE) and Joseph Allotey Pappoe (IPR, G, Ghana) and encouraged them to participate actively in helping to promote the association in a global scale and creating value for national members.
The incoming Chair congratulated his predecessor, Gregor Halff, and all board members and said “I´m very proud to serve together with very reputable and experienced colleagues to raise the standards of our profession”. He added: “The digital era has brought us lots of challenges, all with ethical implications. Answers should come from independent professional organizations like the GA. I support the GA mission because my purpose is to help PR managers to be better professionals and better citizens”.
The Global Alliance for PR and Communication Management is the confederation of the world's major public relations and communication management associations and institutions, representing 160,000 practitioners and academics around the world. The Global Alliance's mission is to unify the public relations profession, raise professional standards all over the world, share knowledge for the benefit of its members and be the global voice for public relations in the public interest.
