Congratulations to the PRII Diploma in Public Relations Class of 2017 who graduated last Saturday in the Law Society Blackhall Place.
The 53 students were presented with their diplomas by PRII President Cian Connaughton, MPRII and Chair of Education Neasa Kane Fine, MPRII. The graduates were also joined by members the PRII National Council, course lecturers, family and friends to celebrate their academic achievements.
This year’s graduation saw Karina Dennigan a Communications Executive with Bord na Móna Powergen, who undertook the PRII Diploma at the European Institute of Communications receive the Gladys Mc Nevin Trophy. This award is presented annually to the graduate who achieves the highest overall mark in the PRII Diploma.
This award honours Gladys Mc Nevin, who in the early days of the PRII was particularly associated with establishing the PRII’s role in education and was a mentor and support to those first students of public relations in Ireland.
As PRII President Cian Connaughton MPRII said ”Gladys McNevin would no doubt be pleased to know that the 2017 Student of the year is a member of a Communication team with specific responsibility for delivering the Public Relations campaigns for large scale energy infrastructure projects in renewable energy projects. She graduated in 2013 with a First Class honours Bachelor of Business in Rural Enterprise from Galway Mayo Institute of Technology. Her role today incorporates many aspects of Public Relations including: Internal Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility, Event Management, Sponsorship and Public Consultation."
