The Future of Irish PR is Global: Event Report

The global dimension to PR in Ireland is not fully recognised by many, this was one of the key take aways from last Thursday evening’s Future of PR Event.

The capacity crowd of over 60 PR and communications professionals listened intently as the panel of the five nominees for last year's Young Communications Professional of the Year discussed their own careers to-date and where they see the profession going in the years to come.

Expertly chaired by Carmel Doyle FPRII, other predictions of the night included:

  • competition for talent in the profession will intensify;
  • there is a real expectation that corporates are transparent and ethics and that Corporate PR needs to be always pushing that agenda;
  • there will always be need to focus on the narrative and the message;
  • the future of PR is not about platforms but about messages;
  • the importance of not forgetting the fundamental areas or PR such as storytelling and that once such fundamentals are strong - you won't go far wrong; and
  • PR professionals will always be story tellers.
