Irelands biggest selling daily newspaper the Irish Independent’s circulation has fallen below 100,000 copies per day for the first time according to the latest Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) figures which were released on Thursday last, February 16th.
These report that daily newspaper circulation for the second half of last year (July to December 2016) declined by 8.4% compared with the same period in 2015 and were 6% down on the on the first six months of 2016.
Circulation for the main Irish daily broadsheet newspapers are as follows:
Irish Independent 97,104 (print) 1,941 (digital)
Irish Times 66,251 (print) 13,176 (digital)

The Irish Times gained more than 5,000 digital subscriptions over this period.
The Sunday Independent holds the position of Ireland’s most popular Sunday Newspaper with a circulation of 191,594, while overall Sunday figures were also down 8.4% year on year.
