Yesterday, February 15th a full house at the Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield, Dublin 7 heard the brief for the first every Irish heats for the Young PR Cannes Lion competition. This competition is being sponsored by the PRII and the PRCA.
The capacity attendance was to be expected, as there is an brilliant prize for two young Irish PR professional at the end of it; a week-long trip to the Cannes Lions Festival, the world’s most prestigious creative communications festival at which the winners will compete in the international Young Cannes Lions PR competition. The winners will have their flights Dublin-Nice, a full week’s delegate pass, invites to the gala evenings, and hotel accommodation in Cannes all provided for.
At the briefing session, attendees got some greater insight into the competition brief which has been set by the mental health charity, Jigsaw. The brief itself is available here, as are Jigsaw’s brand guidelines and other relevant information. The competition is entered by teams of two, both of whom must be 30 or under (born on or after 25 June 1986). While in the main entrants will come from the same agency, it is open to two PR professionals from different agencies to collaborate and enter together. The PRII is happy to act as a matchmaker in those cases, so email Loading... if you want to enter, but there is no one else in your firm who is willing to do so.
Entrants must be working in PRCA or IAPI agencies, or at least one of them must be a PRII member. The deadline is 5pm on Wednesday, March 8 and there is no fee to enter. This competition is being run by Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland (IAPI), the Cannes Lions Official representative in Ireland and they have a mini website set up for this competition which has all the details which can be accessed here.
