The IEA is looking for a dynamic Communications and Engagement Manager to join our busy organisation, a highly influential body representing a vital sector of the Irish economy. The Communications and Engagement Manager will engage with key members, government departments, embassies and agencies, leveraging our influence to support and advocate for our members. This role involves strategic communication, public affairs, raising IEA brand awareness and enhancing member services.

The Communications and Engagement Manager will engage with key members, government departments, embassies and agencies, leveraging our influence to support and advocate for our members. The IEA keeps members informed of policy and legislative developments, helping them navigate international trade complexities. This role involves strategic communication, public affairs programmes, raising IEA brand awareness, and enhancing member services, perfect for a dynamic professional eager to impact public affairs and stakeholder engagement.
Roles and responsibilities
Public Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop and deliver strategic communication, public affairs and stakeholder engagement programmes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant political, policy and legislative developments.
- Develop and deliver a stakeholder engagement programme targeting our key industry groups, government departments and agencies.
- Horizon scan for upcoming policy developments and maintain a public affairs schedule.
- Prepare high-quality briefing materials for CEO, self and key stakeholder audiences.
- Support stakeholder events from concept and ideation to execution and evaluation.
- Raise awareness of brand IEA and provide assistance to members.
Media Relations
- Write regular press releases for regional and national distribution.
- Research, coordinate and write relevant government submissions.
- Write briefing materials to prepare senior leadership for media and stakeholder engagement.
- Secure and coordinate media inquiries and interview requests.
- Media management of IEA events and CEO engagement opportunities.
- Book and brief photographers, videographers and creative suppliers as required.
- Network and develop relevant media contacts.
- Measure, evaluate and advise on IEA media strategy.
Campaigns and Content
- Develop, implement and evaluate results-driven communication campaigns.
- Implement strategic communication plans across all channels.
- Contribute to the development of content calendars and ensure consistency in tone of voice.
- Work with colleagues to develop web, email marketing and social media content.
What we are looking for
- A communications professional with broad experience across public affairs, stakeholder engagement, media relations and PR
- Excellent research skills and knowledge of Irish and EU policy as well as an interest in global affairs.
- Proven interpersonal and communication skills and a strong sense of responsibility.
- You will have experience in coordinating GDPR compliance.
- Flexible approach to work, willing to attend meetings or events which may take place outside normal working hours.
- PC Literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Suite and CRM systems.
- An appropriate third level qualification with a minimum of 7 years working in communications / corporate affairs / PR either in house or agency.
- Full clean driver’s license required and own vehicle.
