Cork Chamber is looking for an Events Manager to develop and implement the Chamber programme of events, in line with the 3 year Strategic Plan,  to meet the business needs of members. Increasing engagement with members, whilst managing budgets to generate revenue for Chamber activities.

Key Activities

Planning: Strategic planning and management of annual events calendar, ensuring it meets the overall objectives and strategy of Cork Chamber by analysing member feedback, the B2B events environment and cross-departmental work.

Maintain a pipeline of relevant speakers from market research on business issues, internal teams, networking and general media

Bring innovative new experiences to events from locations, to speakers, to formats and technologies

Commercial: Responsible for all commercial aspects of events and sponsorship in line with overall Chamber budget from planning to sponsor negotiation to ticket sales to reconciliation

Communications: Create, copy write, publish and promote all Cork Chamber events via our regular communication channels e.g. Chamberlink magazine, website, ebulletin, LinkedIn & other relevant social media.

Create media partnerships, where appropriate, for larger events that support the awareness of the event and overall brand exposure

Relationship Building: Building and maintaining relationships with sponsors, speakers, partners and stakeholders

Research and identify collaborative opportunities with key organisations as well as commercial opportunities with potential sponsors

Engage with a variety of partners to run co-hosted relevant events

Project Mgt: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, meet deadlines and stay within budget

Establish, communicate and manage timelines and priorities on every project from information seminars, business briefings, networking events, social events, private corporate dinners to large-scale events e.g.

  • Cork Chamber Annual Dinner
  • Golf Classic
  • Cork Chamber’s Dublin Dinner
  • Leadership Forum
  • Annual Christmas Lunch

Lead relevant Task Forces and Events Committees as required

Ensure current or potential systems are fit for purpose for events and event-relevant activities e.g. CRM System, Online booking system, ConnectMe

People Mgt: Provide leadership, direction and support to the team, both direct and indirect reports,  while maintaining motivation and enthusiasm to successfully deliver each event.

Work as a team with Event Executive to ensure continuous improvement in how events are delivered and implemented from invitations to promotion to table plans to name badges

Additional team duties as assigned by the Director and CEO

Knowledge & Skills

Essential Qualifications

Third Level business related qualification

Desirable Qualifications

  • Marketing/Communications degree
  • Event Management
  • Project Management

Functional Knowledge & Experience

  • 5 yrs + previous experience in a similar events management role
  • Comprehensive, hands-on experience of running multiple projects/ events, ideally in a B2B environment
  • CRM Systems and/or Event Management Software

Business Knowledge & Experience

  • Commercial acumen
  • Media awareness
  • Experience engaging with all levels of company management
  • High level of customer service
  • Strong influencing & negotiation skills to win and retain sponsors, partners & key stakeholders
