JOB ROLE:

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering MQI’s digital PR and supporting delivery of wider communications and fundraising objectives, including press work and events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the day-to-day delivery of high-quality, imaginative and engaging multi-media communications campaigns within agreed budget and timelines.
  • Manage MQI social media platforms, working with other departments to develop engaging digital content for regularly scheduled posts.
  • Manage and develop MQI’s website, including Search Engine Optimisation and monitoring of Google Analytics.
  • Support on generating opportunities for positive coverage; writing press releases, articles and statements and responding to media queries.
  • Help maintain and build the reputation and profile of MQI in the media, public and wider homeless & addiction sector
  • Manage internal communications, including the MQI intranet and the preparation and delivery of the quarterly staff newsletter
  • Support development and promotion of publications including Annual Report, staff newsletters and all service brochures.
  • Identify and collect great stories from around the organisation for use in external communications
  • Build on existing, and develop new, relationships with media, key decision makers, member organisations, internal audiences and volunteers.
  • Organise and co-ordinate MQI’s presence at conferences and events, from launching our annual review to sharing research findings at sector seminars to breakfast briefings.
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of relevant developments within the wider homeless and addiction sectors
  • Support internal policy development to reflect the current external legislative environment
  • Report on and analyse all aspects of communications.
  • Provide administration support as needed, to include management of information and communication queries into MQI via phone and email.
  • Undertake other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time.

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Experience:

Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in press-office work or journalism, including substantial understanding of, and contacts, in the Irish media.
  • Proven record of developing content, including some, if not all, of the following: photos, written pieces and video footage.
  • Proven track record of project and event management (from concept through to analysis)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; ability to adapt style to suit the wide range of audiences including an accessible, friendly telephone manner.
  • Strong organisational skills with experience of managing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently to general guidelines, capacity to take initiative and seize opportunities.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage digital channels (PPC, display, Google Tracking, SEO, etc.) and best practice of same.
  • In-depth knowledge of the web, online technologies and social media.
  • Solid understanding of content management systems, Photoshop, audio-video and SEO software, Microsoft Office. Familiarity with the Adobe suite a considerable advantage.
  • Attention to detail and flair for creativity
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • Flexible can do attitude and good team player – this role involves working very closely and collaboratively with colleagues within other departments and services.

Qualifications:

Level 8 Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or PR
