The Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII) is the representative body for the profession in Ireland. It plays the leading role in public relations education and professional development and is the voice of one of the most dynamic and diverse professions. As membership approaches 900, the sustained growth of services to members; the provision of the most widely held qualification in the profession, the PRII Diploma in PR; and an increasing range of interactions with external stakeholders, requires the recruitment of a Communications Officer to work across a portfolio of media, event, and education projects.

The successful candidate will support the PRII to deliver a comprehensive communications strategy to facilitate greater member engagement and will report directly to the Chief Executive.

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver an annual PR Plan, building on the profile of the Institute among internal and external stakeholders with the objective, among others, of increasing membership.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to research and develop compelling content for the weekly newsletter/e-zine, the PRII website, and all owned and shared channels.
  • Publicise and market the Institute’s wide range of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Certificate courses, one day Workshops, and Briefing Events, to PRII members and non-members.
  • Publicise and market the PRII Diploma in Public Relations.
  • Publicise and market the Institute’s flagship events such as the annual national Conference.
  • Create compelling sponsorship packages for PRII properties and build long-term relationships with sponsors.

Qualifications:

The PRII Diploma in Public Relations or a degree (or equivalent qualification) in communications, public relations, marketing, or similar discipline.

Relevant experience (min. 3 years) working across a range of communications disciplines, in particular, public relations and marketing.

Skills:

  • Purposeful writing and presentation skills, with a proven ability to produce quality editorial copy, press releases, brochures and other publications;
  • A keen interest and working knowledge of digital and social media platforms;
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), experience of web site management and MailChimp an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the CPD, education and training sector would be an advantage.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven the ideal candidate is someone who can take ownership of tasks and to see them through to a satisfactory conclusion.
