Background

HDF was established in 2004 and became a limited life foundation in 2009. HDF will complete its grantmaking in 2021.

The current staff of the foundation is

  • Executive Director – 0.9 FTE
  • Finance Manager – 1.0 FTE
  • Senior Programme Officer – 2.0 FTEs
  • Communications Manager – 1.0 FTE (this role)
  • Office Manager – 0.7 FTE

HDF also uses consultancy services in India and South Africa to augment staff capacity. Given the size of the team, the Communications Manager is expected to be flexible and adaptable.

Job Purpose

HDF is looking for a Communications Manager to develop and implement a communications strategy to support the telling of HDF’s story.  HDF has a limited lifespan and will end its grant-making in 2021; it is currently preparing to share its achievements and lessons learned with relevant audiences as it approaches the end of its lifespan.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan & budget 2018-2021
  • Develop key messages and high-quality media content for a variety of audiences
  • Liaise with grantees on communication activities and identify powerful stories from HDF’s grantees and translate them into communication outputs
  • Develop content for and manage HDF’s website
  • Manage development and delivery of HDF publications including Annual Report, Research and Evaluation Studies, learning briefs.
  • Manage third parties to deliver key communication outputs including videos and events
  • Monitor, analyse and report on progress and impact of HDF communications activities as per HDF’s MEL Framework.

Terms & Conditions
