Social networking sites and the law - practical considerations for PR practitioners and advertisers

With the internet now at the frontier of international business, how do you protect your own or a client organisation or brand from the vagaries of the web?

To guide you through this difficult terrain, this half-day session examines the legal challenges facing PR practitioners and advertisers using social networking sites (e.g. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter) on behalf of their own or a client organisation.

Topics to be addressed include:

  • Copyright
  • Defamation
  • Data protection and privacy
  • Blogging and user generated content
  • Re-packaging of third party materials
  • User terms and conditions, and privacy policies.
