May 21st Deadline for Reporting Lobbying Activities

02/05/2017

A reminder that May 21st is the deadline for reporting all lobbying activities carried out between January 1st and April 30th 2017. If you are registered and have no carried out lobbying activity during that period, you must also make a nil return.

As the Standards Commission advise people in a reminder email today:

Failure to submit a return of lobbying activities carried out during the above relevant period by the 21 May 2017 is a contravention of the Regulation of Lobbying Act.

A person who fails to submit a return of lobbying activity will be guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to a maximum fine of €2,500.

Where a person commits an offence by submitting a late return of lobbying activity, the Standards Commission will issue a fixed payment notice. The fixed payment penalty will be €200. If the fixed payment penalty is paid by the date specified in the fixed payment notice, no further action will be taken. If the fixed payment penalty is not paid by the date specified in the fixed payment notice, the Standards Commission may proceed to prosecute the offence.

As always, the PRII is there to support members with their reporting requirements. The next PRII Lobbying Act Compliance workshop is on Tuesday, May 16th and you can book a place here. You can also contact the PRII CEO, John Carroll, at Turn on Javascript! with any queries.
