The Public Relations Society of America Board (PRSA) has approved the recertification of  Dublin Institute of Technology’s (DIT) Master of Arts in Public Relations and the initial certification of the Master of Arts in Public Affairs and Political Communication.

The PRSA noted that "this is a significant achievement that reflects the excellence of these DIT programs. This program continues to gain strength in curriculum, assessment, professional affiliations, facilities and resources.  This is a truly global program with students from throughout Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, the Middle East and the U.S. It is a program that is exemplary in embracing ethics and diversity.

The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) is the largest professional organization serving the American public relations community. It's membership comprises more than 21,000 practitioners across the USA.

The MA in Public Relations and the MA in Public Affairs and Political Communication is also recognised by the Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII) and the United Kingdom’s Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR.)

DIT’s Head of Journalism and Communications Kate Shanahan commented, "This is a huge achievement for both programs, and a credit to both the team and Dr John Gallagher. Dr Gallagher's leadership was singled out for particular praise by the external assessors. He has been instrumental in obtaining PRSA certification which gives our graduates a unique world-leading accreditation opening doors to them at the highest levels in both PR and Public Affairs."
