Chief Executive Dr Martina Byrne was interviewed for the December, Sunday Business Post's Media Matters Podcast.
Martina discussed how the public relations industry is changing with Colette Sexton, due to different demands from clients and the fragmentation of the media industry. She also discussed some of the challenges facing PRII members, including staff retention and recruitment as well as PR professionals adherence to lobbying legislation more than other relevant professions.
Speaking to The Sunday Business Post ahead of the podcast Martina also announced that the PRII will undertake the first ever nationwide census of the public relations industry in the New Year.
“We want to know age mix, gender mix. We want to know credential backgrounds. We want to know the areas they are working in, in-house, consultancy, public, private. We want to get a really good map of who is working in the public relations and communications field,” Martina said.
She also said the PRII welcomed the fact that the lobbying register has begun to do outreach work with organisations that are engaged in lobbying.
