James Wright

James Wright, MCIPR is Managing Director – CSR, Sustainability & Not-For-Profit at Grayling. As a Board Director specialising in CSR and sustainability from corporate, governmental and NGO perspectives, James works on some of Europe’s most influential and challenging campaigns. 

James is also a consumer stunt expert devising impactful launch stunts that generate powerful imagery and media coverage, including turning BT Tower red for Comic Relief, recreating iconic landmarks from Coke cans for Coca-Cola GB in four UK cities and recently launching the world’s largest electric car trial in five UK locations for the Technology Strategy Board, the UK government’s innovation agency. James and his team have won numerous international and national PR awards for their campaigns – 15 in the past four years.

In 2007 he conceived the Chartered Institute of Public Relations’ Environmental Sustainability Guidelines and chaired a select steering committee that developed them. This guide for PR practitioners undertaking green communications was launched in March 2008 and is believed to be the first of its kind in the world.

James was named PRCA’s Consultant of the Year 2008 and last year was named International CSR Leader at the PR News (US) annual All Stars Award ceremony at the Washington DC press club.

His client experience includes BT, Coca-Cola, Costa Coffee, HSBC, Indesit Company, Merck Dohme & Sharp, Jaguar Land Rover, Reebok, and World Vision. He advises several government agencies and departments including Wrap, Defra and the Technology Strategy Board, and also works with the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) on the UK response to global disaster relief.
